The first posthumous retrospective of Rauschenberg’s work in the UK, as well as the first comprehensive survey exhibition in almost twenty years. Bringing together a selection of key works from different periods, this book provides a long overdue opportunity to discover an artistic trajectory which steadfastly refused to be straightjacketed by rules and conventions. Each chapter of Rauschenberg’s six-decade career is represented by major works, with an introduction by Leah Dickerman, fourteen essays focusing on different key moments in Rauschenberg’s career, plus a glossary compiled by Achim Borchardt-Hume. Robert Rauschenberg (1925–2008) was the first US artist to win the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 1963, and blazed a new trail for art in the second half of the twentieth century. Moving between painting, sculpture, photography, print-making, installation and performance, Rauschenberg refused to accept conventional boundaries in art and in life, his quest for innovation fired by boundless curiosity, enthusiasm for collaboration and passion for travel. źródło opisu: Tate Gallery źródło okładki: Tate Gallery
