Ce livre magnifiquement illustré et documenté nous propose un voyage à travers les représentations que l'Europe s'est faites, tout au long de l'Histoire, des autres peuples et des autres cultures. C'est aussi un voyage à travers nos préjugés, souvent enracinés dans des traditions nées non de l'émerveillement d'une rencontre mais d'une peur ou d'un étonnement face à la différence. Ces préjugés, enfouis au plus profond de notre mémoire, sont toujours prêts à renaître, nous rappelle l'auteur, pour nourrir d'une mythologie perverse les théories racistes.
